Definition Of Terms Used On This Website And On The Directory
The following are definitions of terms that are used on this website and in the Directory. If we use a word or expression or otherwise do something that you don't understand and it isn't explained here [or isn't clearly explained] please let us know so on the Comments form.
Some of these things require a detailed explanation and they are described in-depth at the link labeled [details].
Cyber-Buddy: When we have a Classmate or Friend that doesn't have access to the Internet, we describe them as being Offline. A Cyber-Buddy is someone who interacts with us as if they were that person [details].
Offline: A person who doesn't have access to the Internet. We assign these folks a Cyber-Buddy who interacts with us for the Offline person.
Identity Problems On Facebook
These instructions are for our female members who belong to our Facebook Group and have problems being recognized because our Classmates don't recognize them by their married names.
There are two ways to do this: modify your name to include your maiden name or to use an Alternate Name feature in Facebook.
Changing your name to include your maiden name would look like this: Mary Smith's married name is Mary Jones. She would change her name to Mary Smith Jones. While this example seems clear, sometimes people's maiden name can be confused as a middle name instead. To make this change to your name in Facebook follow these steps:
 Log into your Facebook account.
At the top right click on Account, then on Account Settings.
To the right of Name click on Change.
In the Display Full Name field insert your maiden name between your first and last names.
 Click on Change Name.
Facebook also has a feature to assist with this issue called the Alternate Name. This allows you to be seen on displays and in searches with more that one name. You can establish this Alternate Name as follows:
 Log into your Facebook account.
At the top right click on Account, then on Account Settings.
To the right of Name click on Change.
Key your maiden name into the Full Alternate Name field.
Make sure there is a checkmark to the left of Also display on my profile and in search results.
 Click on Change Alternate Name.
These changes may take a day or more....

The following are some of the comments we've received about the efforts of our Super-Sleuths in finding our Lost Classmates for our 45th Reunion:

Thanks for the nice message & especially thanks for all the work you and others are doing to put together the 45th celebration. It should be really magical & I am looking forward to it.

I am not going to be able to attend due to work schedules and distance of travel. I'm really sad about it because I'm sure it will be a blast! I send my hellos and hugs to any interested folks.
Paul Callanan wrote on 08-06-2010:
I give you the highest possible marks for what you guys are doing! I know the effort is Herculean.

Thanks, Ricky Goldstein for calling me. It was nice chatting with you, especially about Quincy Elementary School and the neighborhood. Although I have been to Quincy innumerable times over the last 45 years, I have never been contacted about any reunions since the first two. So, thanks for the call. I will try to make it if at all possible.

45 years is a heck of a long time! A lifetime for some. Hopefully each of us has learned something and become a little more mellow during this experience called life. I'm sorry I can't attend..maybe next time around. Best wishes to all!

It was a nice surprise, getting the phone call from Rose [Doherty]. It will be good seeing the guys and gals from the class of '65, my wife Robin and I are really looking forward to attending.

You and your team have done a great job getting in touch with so many classmates. I appreciate your efforts, it takes a lot of work I know. I have enjoyed scanning the directory to see who has responded and where folks are living now. Can't believe there's another Alabama resident in the class! Strange where life takes us.....
Raymond [Pat] McPeck wrote on 07-28-2010:
Kevin, you and your associates are doing a terrific job and please realize that we all appreciate the time and effort you've put into making this Reunion a great success.

Hi all: Just wondering if anyone remembers me and if I remember anyone. It's been a few days since the good old days. Send me an email so we can start a dialogue. Hope to hear from ya'll real soon.
Help Us With Our Missing & Undecided Classmates
As we make a final push for attendance for the 45th Reunion, we're asking for your help locating Classmates that are either missing or haven't made their intentions clear. Located here is a list of the people who are either Missing or Undecided.
This list does not include those who:
 Have said they ARE attending.
Have said they ARE NOT attending.
Have said they don't want to be contacted again.
 Are deceased.
It does include those who:
Have told us they may be coming, but haven't made up their mind yet.
Have indicated to someone else they may be coming, but they haven't told us yet.
We've contacted, told them about the reunion, but they've taken no action as yet.
 We've been unable to locate.
Notes:
A ? after the current last name indicates that this was obtained from a dated source and may not be correct.
Also, you can search for someone's name by using the <Ctrl>+F keys. Then use the <F3> key to find the next occurrence.
So, if you know anyone on this list please contact them and tell/remind them of the reunion and that if they plan to attend they must tell us before September 5 to enjoy the free admission [that's for guests as well]. If they just show at the door it will be $15/person. They can register here.
This list will be updated daily right up to September 11, 2010.
